When the Universe Sent Leon James to My Inbox
Leon James
Leon James flute collaboration
Tamil music composer
Telugu film music director
Bansuri session musician

Back in 2024, and again in 2025, I had the privilege of recording bansuri parts for a song with a producer named Leon James. Every time I got his tracks, I was blown away by the production quality—crystal-clear, tasteful, and so musically rich. I kept dropping messages like “Man, your mixes are insane, how do you get them to sound this good?”—completely unaware of who I was actually talking to.
Fast forward to November 2025. After finishing our second project together, curiosity got the better of me. I went down the rabbit hole trying to find the song I’d played on and learn more about this Leon guy. And then… boom. Turns out he’s *the* Leon James—an A-list music director and producer who’s been composing blockbuster tracks for Tamil and Telugu cinema for years. Mind officially blown.
The very first song I ever recorded bansuri for him was “Bahusa Bahusa” from the film Sundarakanda — featuring the magical voice of Sid Sriram, composed and produced by Leon James & Sri Harsha Emani.

Listening to the final track still gives me goosebumps — hearing my flute breathe alongside Sid’s voice and Leon’s incredible arrangement felt surreal even before I knew whose world I had stepped into.
The funniest part? My last message to him after the session was something like: “I’m obsessed with your production quality, would love to know more about your work and what you do!” He replied very humbly, told me a bit about himself, and shared his Instagram handle so I could check out his world.
By that time I’d already done my homework and knew exactly who he was. Still, his humility hit me hard. Here’s someone working at the absolute top of the industry, yet so grounded, professional, and kind in every single interaction.
I still can’t believe that someone of his stature reached out to *me* for bansuri. It feels surreal. All those years of practicing alone in my room, recording take after take, staying honest to the music—even when no one was watching—somehow the universe was listening. Quietly. And then one day, it sent Leon James my way.
This experience has filled me with so much gratitude and fire at the same time. It’s proof that when you keep showing up and doing your work with sincerity, the right people find you—often when you least expect it.
So thank you, Universe, for this beautiful validation.
And Leon, whenever you read this—just know the bansuri is always ready whenever you need it again :)
Patience, perseverance, and honesty. Still the recipe.
Grateful beyond words.
